Bubbler Status - by Brian Weist on 3/4/25
Over the past months, DLARA has worked with the Watershed District to finalize a one year lease partnership, been in contact with the county to attain a land agreement for the bubbler and waited for the DNR to complete their permit process.
As it turns out, getting a bubbler into Diamon Lake is a more complicated and lengthy process than we first envisioned. The goal of the lease is to have a bubbler operate in the lake for a full season (May - October) and review the results to ensure this technology will improve the quality of the lake. We will not complete all of the steps early enough this year to justify doing a lease in 2025.
Our goal for 2025 now is to get all of the steps completed, prepare the land for the bubbler and trench in the power. Get a bubbler into the lake as early as weather permits in 2026. Please let me know any questions or concerns you may have,

Bubbler Status - by Brian Weist on 12/11/24
Last night the Watershed board voted money into their 2025 budget which could be used to lease a nanobubbler for next year. Several items need to happen prior to signing them approving the money being spent on the lease.
1) Data on the present condition of Diamond Lake needs to be finished and reviewed to establish a baseline. The goal is to have this finished late February 2025.
2) Create an "performance expectation" guideline for determining if the bubbler was a success, What measurable characteristics of the lake should change and what would be a reasonable amount of improvement after one season? This would involve taking measurements during and at the end of the bubbler's operation and comparing to the original baseline data. This would determine if buying a bubbler is a good investment.
3) DNR permit. This is presently underway using the results of the Tadd lake project plus other information.
4) Public hearing. Watershed policy says a meeting is needed.
5) Moleaer, Watershed and DLARA create and sign lease agreement which would also include what it would cost tp [urcjase the bubbler rather than return it.
6) Create action list for site. Ground prep, underground power brought in, etc. What needs to be in place prior to the 40 foot bubbler system showing up.
7) Other items unknown to me at this time.
Goal is to get a bubbler into the lake as early as possible. Let me know your questions or concerns.
